Fundraising is the life-blood of non-profit organizations, and finding ways to use social media effectively can be challenging. I am passionate about finding ways to help these organizations thrive in our communities, and my company, Dancing Goat Web Design and Social Media, has spent the last two years doing just that.
In a recent article on the GuideStar Blog, Rachel Muir, CFRE, of Pursuant Group, identified 5 strategies for helping your fundraising efforts in the new year. The most important strategy was making sure your efforts are focused on your donors, and not your organization. She states that learning more about your donors can help you focus on ways to make them feel great about giving.
In a second article, found on Chronicle of Philanthropy, Heather Joslyn talks about a study done by Pew Research, showing that giving using a mobile device jumped by 45% in 2015. She stated that smartphones are being used more often than iPads for donor giving, and that mobile giving is growing every year.
In combining these two articles, I’ve identified 3 actions your organization can take now to strengthen your fundraising efforts in 2016:
• Go Mobile – make sure your site is mobile friendly and donors can easily give via their smartphone
• Identify Donors – the clearer you are on who they are, the easier it is to focus on them
• Be Donor Oriented – give donors what they care about and they will be more likely to support your organization
Start out strong in 2016 by integrating these three things into your fundraising strategy today.
